Empathy

Since I first uploaded a JPG of my virtual pet performing a trick with its toy ball from my fathers Windows 95 PC in 1996 to the respective video game’s community forum online, I have been obsessed with front-end web development, the open web, and the free software that powers the infrastructure behind it. My "life’s work" has been to create empathy.software (empathy.sh), which started as a simple MVC framework and gradually evolved to become and an open source platform, to be placed in the hands in the original darlings of the Internet. Its users.

This has taken shape by sticking close to tried and trusted web tooling and standards, no matter the danger of being boringly perceived, and the principles of UNIX, to be encapsulated now as a vision for an operating system for "self-host-first" web application development and deployment, that unleashes limitless potential for the future.
